We are in front of Terzo Mondo in Berlin Charlottenburg. This is a very famous Greek restaurant that has been around for more than forty years now and what is even more famous is the owner.
"Die Eroberung der Zitadelle" that was your first film. My first role. So I mean many people probably know you because you are a pretty well famous actor, popular actor here in Germany.
So this is really you became an actor purely by chance? Zufällig habe ich aber eine Schauspielschule absolviert. Ach so! So by accident he also graduated from an acting school, which is amazing.
Terzo mondo is third world. Yes. Eh, I was 30 years old in this time. I was young and active, a political activist. I forgot my architecture, my professorship and I worked in this restaurant to send in Greece money for people what was in prison in Greece from dictatorship. Today is forty years. By day today is forty years? Today. That's an amazing amount of time for a restaurant to stay in the same place and to be this famous also.
Have you been to Greece? I've been to Greece. Where? Athens. Athens? What have you done there? Just a lot of stuff. So, uhm, what do you think is so special? Is it the people, the performances? Mostly the people I would say and then there are performances very often, and then you say: Oh, I should go there, who knows what happens...
I've heard that all Finnish people whenever they come to Berlin for the Berlinale or whatever also come here to this place, why do you think that is? Why is that? I think because of Kostas. Everybody who comes here feels that exactly he or she is very welcomed here. Yes, ja.Well, thank you very much. Kiitos! And actually it's the music, too because music is the wonderful language which unites people everywhere in the world. Absolutely.
