Classic Berlin snack is what is known as the Berliner Curry Wurst.
It´s basically a German sausage, fried on the outside and then covered with ketchup, cut up into slices and with a little bit of curry-powder sprinkled on top.
The classic place to come in Kreuzberg since the `80-ties to get your late night or midafternoon snack is „Curry 36“.
Are you planing on also getting pommes?
Pommes...Oh, excuse me french fries?
Is there anything you would like to say about the experience of going to „Curry 36“?
Not yet. I tell you when I am done.
We´ll catch up Frederick after he´s done with his Curry-wurst.
So when you come back to Berlin, will you be having Curry-wurst again?
Of course! Yes of course he will....
In Belgium we call this „Bratwurst“
I´ve noticed thre is a tiny, tiny bit of curry powder on it, this is what technically makes it a Curry Wurst.
At the same time you can not taste the curry for all of the ketch-up and the sort of fried sausage meaty loveliness attacking your tastebuds.
We also have Currywurst, but it´s different than this. It is something else than this one.
Is there a difference between Belgian and Berlin Curry-wurst?
If so, how does one describe it?
And should one actually try to promote Berliner Currywurst everywhere if the Belgians actually get it right?
I don´t know!
Was it good for you as it was for me?!?
Yes, it was very good, very good, very good.
Excellent!
I am trying to think of anything deep about a Currywurst conversation that we can get into.
Good! Just kidding!
